Ben Marcin’s Last House Standing

benmarcin

Ben Marcin’s Last House Standing series consists of 19th century houses that stand confidently alone amidst a desolate landscape. Once attached to multiple identical counterparts, these single structures located in Baltimore and Philadelphia embody both fragility and independence simultaneously. No longer being muted and indistinguishable by rows and rows of similar looking buildings, each photograph reveals a home that stands out like a sore finger. Tides of time have brought change and eroded away at each neighborhood until one last house is left starkly standing by itself, giving more attention to forgotten details like its color, architecture, and quirkiness.
