We have seen an increase in multi-material, mixed medium art works. From rare objects to unusual objects, nothing is excluded from becoming its own art form. Baltimore-based artist Alex Ebstein has jumped on that train, bringing yoga mats to the equation. Ebstein uses the basic material for its textural qualities, which we can’t deny are really characteristic and versatile. Her brightly colored canvases are bold and graphic from afar, but upon closer inspection they are quite tactile. The artist uses slightly irregular grids and geometric constructions to create these flexible compositions.
