Iris Van Herpen and Phillip Beesley collaborated together for an elaborate Voltage Haute Couture Collection, with 11-pieces for Spring 2013. Their collaboration reflects a mutual fascination for materials and structures. Van Harpen is passionate about science and technology and is always trying to innovate in the fashion world by collaborating with the scientific, giving an unexpected result. She finds an harmony between handcraft and technological progress. In this collection, she worked on the representation of the invisible, believing that the body contains an incredible energy, sufficient to create an explosion as strong as thirty hydrogen bombs exploding together. With the architect Philip Beesley, they symbolized this idea of explosion and also worked with new technological materials. Their work simply makes us gob-smacked!
