Typing Room, London

London’s new Typing Room located in the East End in the Town Hall Hotel, is named for the building’s original typing room.

In the space formally known as Viajante, Chef Lee Westcott, a 27-year-old rising talent, serves elegant modern British food in a fashionably off-the-beaten-track neighborhood. After years in Hong Kong, and some time at Per Se and Noma, pulling off five and seven course tasting menus with dishes like Pigeon smoked in pine with salt-baked celeriac, lovage and hazelnut is common place for Westcott.

Built in 1910, the newly designed space makes use of marble, oak and brushed brass; all reminiscent of classic British sophistication and homeliness.
