Ichiro Japan Shop by Torafu Architects

Japanese studio Torafu Architects introduced the Ichiro Japan Shop 2012 – an exhibition space designed to showcase the new catalog and furniture prototypes of famous Japanese maker of decorative plywood, Ichiro . The vision Ichiro had for the space was one which emphasized in particular, the colors the company uses for their polyester plyboards.

With this in mind, Torafu decided to expand the layout of the catalog onto the walls resulting in something that resembles a large sample book.

Nooks were cut out of this surface, offering shelf-like openings in which to display colors as they appear on the inside surfaces of the furniture that is featured in the new catalog.
