Beloved French designer Jean Paul Gaultier who is known to push the fashion envelope when it comes to his avant-garde designs is a trendsetter and icon (hence Madonna’s cone bra throwback), and his works are to be celebrated at the Brooklyn Museum! From October 15, 2013 to February 23, 2013, this event will be the first international exhibition howcasing the couturier’s work. Over 130 haute couture pieces, audiovisual materials, sketches, early designs, and photographs are to be present for viewing. An appropriate subtitle dubbed From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk embodies the designer’s inspiration in the everyday and unexpected. Seven themes will organize the house of Gaultier for the event: the odyssey, the boudoir, muses, punk cancan, skin deep-clothing, metropolis, and urban jungle. Stay tuned, and keep your fashion eyes peeled for the dates!
