Its been almost a year since we last touched base with Tara Dougans, one of our favorite illustrators. Since then she has been busy evolving her style and absolutely immersed in the creation of her first film, ‘Beware of a Man’s Shadow’. The project spanned 4 months, with all illustrations hand-drawn and custom animated.
“Having a clear idea of how I wanted the look and feel to evolve, I taught myself After Effects throughout this process in order to ensure the final product remained true to concept.”
Spanning the work of designers Dries Van Noten, Juun.J, Lucas Ossendrijver for Lanvin, Thom Browne, Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, Walter Van Beirendonck and Kim Jones for Louis Vuitton, the film is a collection of illustrated work featuring seven of this season’s most playful menswear pieces. Along with the film she also created these rad, corresponding animated gifs, just in time for gifs 25th anniversary.
London-based composer Johnston Sheard wrote and scored the music from scratch to reinforce the aesthetic and carry the story throughout.
