Soft Wood by Veronika Wildgruber

Soft Wood was created by Veronika Wildgruber to illustrate how wood can be both soft, and comfortable. This is a series of chairs that appear at first to be made in fabric with the soft appearance of pillows. But in reality they are sculpted in solid wood. The chairs trick the mind because the surface and texture connotes the opposite of what we think and know about the characteristics of wood.

Soft Wood plays with reality. It shows that you cannot always rely on your perception. At first glance these are simple upholstered stools, but then you see that they are in fact crafted from wood, yet they are still as comfortable as the perceived soft chair.
