Designed by HIL Architects, a suburban space was turned into a modern temple. A meditation and yoga centre in Huanghua was inspired by nearby wetlands, offering a calm retreat to those who search for a contemporary shrine.
The entrance leads through a communal hallway with private classrooms set along the wooden corridor. Lighting becomes gradually dimmer and softer as the visitor reaches the main meditation room. Featuring natural materials such as pebbles, wood and indoor plant beds, these stand in contrast to metal and concrete elements used inside tall, spacious interiors that entice concentration and serenity.
