Samantha Cole London

Samantha Cole London is an Award wining Contemporary British designer. She received Best Womenswear Designer at NY Fashion Week for her ss09 collection. Cole draws influence from modern day trends (Geometric Architecture…) without completely relying on it for the direction and purpose of her collections. Definitely a designer to watch!

For her ‘A new Dawn‘ AW10 collection (white) her structure was inspired by the sophisticated styling of Post-Modern Architecture. The textured shapes formed within the fabric were inspired by the details found in Geometric Architecture. The technique used to create these shapes is known as “Smocking” The fabrics used in the collection were Silk mixes, Cotton, Muslin, Jersey and Leather.

For her ‘Warrior‘ SS09 Collection (black), Samantha interpretation through her work represented a darker more aggressive collection with harder edges, structured layering and inspiration drawn from modern architecture not built from indulgence but reminiscent of medieval buildings; powerful, sobering and stark.

Inspiration was drawn from Kate Beckinsale in “UNDERWORLD” meets Tina Turner in “MADMAX” sprinkled with Jane Fonda in “BARBARELLA” set against a futuristic backdrop.

A combination of these female characters and what they represented in strength, determination an independence without losing their femininity was the point behind the collection…
