Subtle and nostalgic – these two words describe best the illustrations of Luisa Riviera. The Chilean artist is inspired by nature, folk culture and literature. Indeed, her graphics carry a poetic feel, as they seem to reflect old fairy tales. Working mostly with watercolours, Riviera makes her characters appear soft and neutral, yet these are their pensive face expressions that allow us to relate to them. Having worked for the likes of The New York Times, Air Canada or Reservoir Books, the illustrator’s portfolio is filled with diverse, precious artworks.
