Njideka Akunyili Crosby’s Paintings

Often based on intimate domestic scenes, the intricate layered work of Njideka Akunyili Crosby reflects the transcultural identity of today. Born in Nigeria, she moved to the United States at sixteen, where she’s still living. Interior randomly overlaid with a combination of drawing, painting and collage, outcoming to a stunning result. Njideka incorporates multiple historical, political and personal references from her country of birth, depicting herself, her husband and her family in their everyday life.
