After the success of their latest Los Angeles location Casa Perfect in Beverly Hills, interior design store, The Future Perfect debuts their new Casa Perfect Los Angeles, in Trousdale with new work by Matthew Day Jackson.
The Future Perfect is pleased to announce the fourth installment of the Casa Perfect concept, and its third in Los Angeles. The new Casa Perfect LA opened on February 15th, 2020 aligned with Frieze Los Angeles, in a Trousdale Estates home designed by Raul F. Garduno in 1971. For the debut, The Future Perfect will open with an exhibition of new works from the Wonky collection by artist Matthew Day Jackson.
From the Press Release:
Conceived with a comedy performance in mind, the Wonky collection is made using only basic tools, without precise measurement. This playful approach in response to materials and process leads to a sometimes uncertain outcome for each piece – imbuing the collection with a sense of chaos. Bubbles appear in the fiberglass, neither surface nor paint is perfect and symmetry is never achieved. The triumph of the Wonky collection is in how its forms express the hand, humor and vulnerability of the author.
The new Casa Perfect will be energized with new work from The Future Perfect’s entire program, including artists Floris Wubben, Chris Wolston, John Hogan, Chen Chen & Kai Williams, Bari Ziperstein, Eric Roinestad, Cody Hoyt, Ben & Aja Blanc, Seungjin Yang, Christopher Stuart and Reinaldo Sanguino, in addition to pieces from gallery mainstays De La Espada, Calico Wallpaper, Lindsey Adelman, David Weeks and more.
After opening their doors in January 2017 in a David Hyun designed mid-century house in the Hollywood Hills, the Casa Perfect concept moved again in 2018 to the iconic Trousdale Estates and former home of Elvis Presley built in the Hollywood regency style by Rex Lottery in 1958. In 2019, The Future Perfect opened their first New York iteration of Casa Perfect in a West Village five-story townhouse with its focal point an impressive sculptural staircase designed by British architect David Chipperfield.
Casa Perfect is The Future Perfect’s private, by appointment only gallery located within an exceptional residential space. It is the gallery’s answer to the increasing irrelevance of traditional retail.
The experiential and exclusive environment of both residence and gallery in one creates a unique space to view culturally important works in a novel way.
Collectors, professionals, and design aficionados can explore and collect a discerning mix of hard-to-find, one-of-a-kind, and custom contemporary design works shown together under one roof. Nomadic by design, Casa Perfect changes locations to experiment in different architectural settings overlaid with cultural or historical significance.
In keeping with its commitment to offering a unique experience, the new Casa Perfect Los Angeles will also serve as a dynamic platform and destination for events, exhibitions, panels, partnerships, collaborations and more. The new house will also become a tableau for artist-based activations.
“Our new home for Casa Perfect LA is my favorite house yet,” said David Alhadeff, Founder of The Future Perfect. “The Casa Perfect concept for me has always been about utilizing incredible architecture – in this case a jewel that has been virtually untouched since 1971 – as a backdrop for our contemporary program. I’m particularly proud of the work Matthew will debut with us; his playful designs – impressively engineered and beautifully handworked – will help set the stage for a bright year in our new home, appropriately beginning during Frieze LA.”
