Neptune’s Daughter by Cassandra Verity Green

As the summer is upon as all, often much of us are itching to be closer to the sea, something that Not Just A Label’s latest contemporary designer could most definitely help you with.

A website devoted to discovering pioneers in fashion and cutting-edge design, the most recent collection by Central Saint Martin graduate Cassandra Verity Green is one that will keep your imagination swimming.

Her latest collection titled “Neptune’s Daughter” is named after a film of the same name, that includes underwater scenes, beautiful sets and mystical smoke for viewers to soak in.

Taking inspiration from her grandmother who was a former beauty queen and style icon, “Neptune’s Daughter” consists of 1950’s styled swimwear, textured swimming caps and two pieces that would revive the old beauty queen scene.

Utilising intricate detailing, fluffy voluminous knits and heavy beading  – Green has used labour intensive techniques with unconventional materials to mimic the natural shape and motion of moving water.

Even her pet goldfish, her favourite aquatic friend who has made her renown name among Lady Gaga fans, MTV and i-D magazine is featured in the collection, swimming inside a perspex backpack.

The collection’s additional video also includes Esther Williams, a synchronised swimmer who had a prominent influence on Green.

Believing that fashion should be treated as an experience, Green’s collection converges refreshing design with a playful spirit. With an accessory line and a capsule collection to be released later this year, Cassandra’s name will be one to watch.
