Miuniku is a Mumbai-based label started by sisters Tina and Nikita Sutradhar. Trained at the London College of Fashion, the duo have sought an international market for their wares, racking nods from both the H&M Design Awards and the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers along the way.
Their ability to go high-low manifests in their A/W 2014 collection, Mundane Things, inspired by their daily household chores.
“We looked at everything from doing the dishes, cleaning up, doing the laundry, etc,” says Nikita. “The bright colours come from the primary colours found on home cleaning products like on the box of Daz detergent. We took the graphic element from the repetitive lines found on dish drainers and used toweling on a few garments.” An article of outerwear is even called the “bathrobe coat.”
