For an attractive, high quality set of headphones that won’t break the bank, we really like the Meze 55. Although we favor different brands and models for looks, after we tried out the 55 we found them to be very comfortable, and they functioned even better. The sound was great, very crisp and multidimensional. According to Meze, these headphones are the result of two years of development to achieve balanced, natural and warm sound that won’t wear the listener out, which we found to be absolutely true. The wood veneer (hand-carved ebony) is a nice touch, although we weren’t too crazy about the logo treatment. All in all, as we found ourselves listening to music for hours on end, these $140, collapsable headphones put our previous $300 designer headphones to shame.
