Hungarian photographer, Marietta Varga, captures the suburbs of her home country with great subtlety. Her neat, pastel photographs of Siófok, a small town on the southern bank of the Lake Balaton, try to highlight the contrast between our imagination and the reality.
“This morning was the first time in a long time that I was able to see my home town precisely as it exists in my mind”, writes Varga and one can discern a sense of dreaminess in her pictures, where empty streets, nostalgic parks and concrete architecture look beautifully whimsical.
