This series of paintings by artist and illustrator Alice Tye are based on a two month trip around the USA, particularly focused on Los Angeles and Palm Springs. The series is a response to her previous projects Modernist Architecture in Film and The Dark Underbelly of Suburbia – both of which were based on California as seen through the filter of pop culture.
In America IRL she have used her own photographs and observations as the source material and aim to explore the contrast between the real and imagined versions of the USA.
