Designer Simon Hasan works in the almost unknown territory between ancient craft and industrial design.
His series of glassware, lamps and other household items is embedded with a richness and texture borne from the use of techniques and materials from these two contradictory worlds. Here, we can see how he meticulously combines leather details with brass and laboratory-grade borosilicate glass. The designs are precisely made by hand and feature wrapped leather sections to provide warmth and contrast. Slight variations in tone and shape evidence the hand-crafted nature of his works, which brings the best of these different elements together.
