Score one for Portugal. Portuguese design, that is. Porto-based multidisciplinary design studio Epiforma has created Meanwhile Curiosities, a series that second-guesses the functions of typical home objects. “We aim to challenge the connection that, with time, people establish with objects of common use,” say owners Filipe Ferreira and Francisco Ribeiro.
Armed with a playful zest for color and organic textures like oak and carrara marble, the Porto-based pair dreamt up dotless dominos (players line up hues rather than circles), a secret-keeping container (opened only with a magnetic “key”), stackable office and beauty accessories, a wheelbarrow-like side table and a vase-slash-candle holder in the shape of an hourglass.
