Hajime Sorayama’s Super Realistic Retro-Futuristic World

Renown groundbreaking Japanese illustrator Hajime Sorayama (born 1947) is known for his precisely detailed, erotic portrayals of feminized, biomechanoid robots (and his design work on the original Sony AIBO robotic “pet”). Famous as well for his fine art, illustration, and industrial design, he describes his highly detailed style as “superrealism”, which he says “deals with the technical issue of how close one can get to one’s object.”

In recent news Hypebeast in collaboration with Hong Kong’s luxurious shopping mall ‘Landmark’ are unveiling CLUB SORAYAMA; An Art Pop-Up to Showcase Hajime Sorayama’s Retro-Futuristic World. Adding a retail element as one of the highlights, CLUB SORAYAMA will also debut collaboration items and merchandise found exclusively at the pop-up. Merchandise includes specially-designed tee-shirts, pullovers, Hawaiian shirts and more, as well as highly collectable goods and accessories in collaboration with Hajime.
