A variety of textures and shapes meets in the space of Gallery Danilo Paint Showroom in Shantou, China. Conceived by Jingu Phoenix Space Planning Organization, the gallery appears somehow fluid.
It was inspired by the contrasts between water and soil – the two influences merge harmoniously in elements such as floor Yin and Yang patterns, curved stone walls and raw, concrete floors. Circular cut-outs in the walls allow the imagination to roam as visitor’s gaze can reach different rooms thanks to the open structure. Serenity is also an important part of the concept with frosted glass skylight entering the negotiation area, highlighted by sleek, minimalist surfaces.
The architects claim: ” The relationship is clear yet implicit, intimate yet estranged, interdependent yet contradictory, seeming to narrate a future living situation where things are interconnected while the space is independent”.
