Disposable Pleasures

Sydney-based photographer Kai Wasikowski’s latest work titled ‘Spent Pleasure’ is a series of large-scale photos reacting to cognitive dissonance; the state of contradiction between values and actualized behavior.

His photos are playfully positioned yet with a careful articulation, composed with unlikely and unassuming objects.

Commonplace and everyday items like a used Fuji water bottle, Splice wrappers and Esprit ads are juxtaposed with semen. Kai’s work reflects on the universal struggle between personal morals and actions. These photos are snapshots of composed scenes alluding to this universal internal conflict and ultimately, the disconnect society has with consumer choices, sex and everything in between.
