Crumpled Books

markdouglas_photography_

In a time where we are constantly producing new rituals through technology, addressing ephemeral objects and time passing practices seem more important and contemporary than ever.

Nevertheless, through capturing crumpled books, photographer and professor Mark Douglas states his work is more about the photographic form, shape and colours than the narrative of reading; “[They are] about photography presenting an absolute, evidentiary truth, and simultaneously no truth at all. They are about levels of interpretation and understanding and about information revealed, and information concealed.”

The series takes you to a close-up of the edge of the books, highlighting the obsolete materials in an intimate and light composition.
