Dutch photographer Astrid Verhoef’s inspiration derives from a desire to manipulate the visible world. She takes reality out of context and likes to visualize it in an alternative appearance. In her series Inscapes, Verhoef is challenging the boundaries between the real and the surreal, she invites the viewer to new interpretations and a new visual vocabulary.
The relationship between our cultivated life and nature & our position between the natural and the manufactured are important themes throughout her work. These themes are translated into tragic yet humorous scenes, placing individuals & objects where they don’t seem to belong.
