Beach House in Milan

Beach_house_Milan

This industrial building in Milan has been turned into a stunning modernist home. The house, which was designed by architect and designer Joanna Grawunder, is located on the outskirts of Milan.

Although there aren’t actually any beaches in sight, its name relates to Grawunder’s personal associations: she grew up with the midcentury modern aesthetic of Southern California.

Among the house’s impressive features are black pillars that enhance its geometric set-up and create perceived smaller areas. The walls are painted with cold colours, playfully contrasted with considered placement of objects in red and orange.
