Shot exclusively on a film camera, Rala Choi‘s vibrant photographs resemble oil paintings or classic pop art. In artist’s opinion, the photos captured on analog film cameras stay authentic and pure as oppose to digitally produced ones as they require some post-production that inevitably taints the image.
Choi’s gravitation towards the use of rich, saturated colors mixed with faded tints makes his photographs instantly recognizable. His subjects usually pose rather unconventionally, with their backs fully turned to the camera, eyes covered. Uniquely composed photographs that are both conceptual and eye-catching are definitely worth checking out.
