Straddling the line between craft and art, Adi Zaffran Weisler, a designer and graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem, enters the debate between craft and art with his series RAWtation. Fusing the industrial process of rotational molding with the use of raw and un-hewn wood, Zaffran encases these organic foundations in a polymer shell, transferring them from amalgamations of discordant materials into familiar and functional forms.
The end result – a impeccably encased mess of natural elements formed into useable objects, with the help of technology but with little to no alterations to beauty of the raw lumber.
