For his latest project “To The Bone”, Johannesburg-based street artist Sonny best known for his huge murals painted with animals, is really dedicated to letting the world know about the endangered species.
He decided to temporarily abandoned the streets for his studio to create a series of hand-painted canvases and sculptures that will be unveiled on May 17th, 2018, in New York.
Asked about what drives him to paint animal portraits, Sonny says he finds it
“incredible how each species is so unique and different. Studying them and painting them keeps me constantly intrigued”.
A limited set of hand-finished prints will be available during the exhibition, with proceeds benefiting Project C.A.T. The organization, which is a collaboration between Discovery and the World Wildlife Foundation, helps conserve almost 2 million acres of land in India and Bhutan in order to ensure a healthy habitat for tigers.
