Community & Composition with ‘Still Here Still Life’

The still life artistic tradition is enjoying a new lease of life on Instagram, as we turn to fruit and flowers to express our creativity. Capitalizing on this trend, and their own love for still life paintings, illustrators Tess Smith-Roberts and Zena Kay started the Still Here Still Life project.

This Instagram-based collaboration blossomed from the pair’s efforts to keep in touch and stay inspired whilst living through lockdown. Each week Zena and Tess share a delicious-looking painting or foodie photograph from the account, to inspire each other and prompt responses from other budding creatives.

Still Here Still Life has been eaten up by Instagram’s creative community and now boasts submissions from artists and amateurs around the world, all keen to share their sketches, snaps and paintings.
