Spanish Director Pedro Almodovars new film ‘Julieta’ premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. His work has always been greatly acclaimed by critics dealing with themes of love, tragedy, guilt, and dark humor. Retro and pop visuals are strong components to the aesthetic of his films. The melodrama is based on three short stories from the book ‘Runaway’ written by Canadian Nobel Prize winner Alice Munro. Recounting the story of Julieta (Emma Suarez and Adriana Ugarte) over the course of thirty years; a mother having to deal with heartbreak and the reconnection of her daughter.
