“The Secret of the Great (Louvre) Pyramid” by JR [Paris]

And JR did it again! French street artist JR just completed this weekend an impressive large-scale ‘Trompe L’oeil’ (optical illusion) project around the Louvre pyramid, in Paris. With the help of 400+ volunteers, they glued more than 2,000 photo strips over 183,000 square meters to create this amazing, gigantic optical illusion of the Pyramid rising from a quarry.

Named “The Secret of the Great Pyramid”, the project was created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the famous glass structure. The ephemeral piece of art, was designed to last just for this weekend and was quickly destroyed by visitors who flocked to see it.
