It comes as no surprise that Swedish trend-setting design house ACNE chose The Eastern Building, an iconic Los Angeles landmark, as home to its largest flagship to date. For native Angelenos downtown has really been on the rise for the last 10 years, but it was only 3-4 years ago that it started to get all the international hype that it now deserves.
All the development in the last few years has created a burgeoning community, and one of L.A. most desirable new residential neighborhoods.
“We could have opened on Melrose,” said Jonny Johansson, Acne’s creative director. “But for us, we had to start something new. This area is more our style — it’s very eclectic, and it has the most beautiful buildings in the world. It’s almost like Berlin.”
