Packaging design is a huge segment of the design industry. As you know, the way products are packaged and presented directly relates to how well they will sell and what kind of audiences they will sell to. Packaging design also displays some of the most exciting innovations in typography and graphics, so for a new ongoing series, we will be compiling the best in packaging design trends from all over the world and featuring them by theme. This week’s theme is numbers.
The numbers in these product packages are bold and prominent. In some cases, numbers are used to differentiate different types of products in the same line – the Verso Skincare products for example. In other designs, numbers communicate something about the product itself – size, weight, etc. The Fleischwaren meat packaging design uses numbers to mark length in centimeters, and the Jamie Oliver food packaging uses large numbers to show the product weight. These packaging designs also contain graphic elements other than numbering – color, line, shape, typography – and we’ll be featuring those trends in upcoming weeks.
