Converted churches are all the hype. Clearly, its a rare piece of real estate to get your hands on, but it takes someone with a true vision to repurpose a church and convert it into a home, shop, studio, or in Piet Boon’s case, foodie heaven.
Award-winning design practice Piet Boon took over this chapel which was a former military hospital, in a mythical part of Antwerp, and chose to restore only the highly necessary in the chapel to preserve the rest. The original altar gave way to the kitchen that – just like the atelier- is embraced by glass, like a modern shrine. It allows guests to witness everything the team creates for them.
The Jane opened its doors to the public on March 25th, 2014.
This project is truly a gem made possible by a super star team of visionaries which include Michelin-star chefs Sergio Herman and Nick Bril, Piet Boon, Studio Job and PSLAB. Definitly worth a trip out to Antwerp for a night of redemption!
