Visibility is a Brooklyn-based product design studio founded by LA-bred Joseph Guerra and Tehran-born Sina Sohrab in 2012. Pals at the Rhode Island School of Design, the two are partial to simple objects with great functionality.
Make that, multiple functionalities.
At the Sight Unseen Offsite show during NYC Design Week, they presented a wall mirror with a built-in ledge to place your grooming implements, and a hole for a wire hanger, if need be. Their “Plus Coat Stand,” named for its top bar, which resembles a plus sign (while the base is an “o” shape to dump your stuff in after a long day), has the same two-for-one utility. So does a set of ceramic pitcher, grater, mortar and pestle, whose ridges make them charming to look at and easy to grip.
Meanwhile, a poolside chair and a rubber-dipped hand mirror—like a ping pong racket at first glance—demonstrate the duo’s cool, effortless way with color.
