Spanish graphic design studio Lavernia & Cienfuegos designed some sleek new packaging for EXTREM, a new brand of Iberian ham launched by longstanding jamón purveyor Agriculturas Diversas.
Produced in matte black medium density fibreboard, the shallow tray comes topped with a golden pig handle that’s pretty hefty-looking but is actually made of plastic resin finished in chrome. Rolling out in gourmet shops around the world, EXTREM went to great lengths for its packaging as it positions its acorn-fed ham alongside other premium delicacies like caviar and foie gras.
Lavernia & Cienfuegos took cues from the black-footed Iberian pigs, from which jamón ibérico is made from.
