Alyssa Pheobys Mumtaz’s Drawings

Alyssa Pheobys Mumtaz’s large scale, labor-intensive drawings on textiles explore the medium as a method of meditation.  Geometric designs focus around a central point, beckoning both inward and outward, calling to mind both Modern and tribal art.  Creating a strong graphic language, Mumtaz mixes it up with the occasionally hyper bright blue pigment in addition to the graphite, precisely applied on handmade paper and cowhide.
