Hudson Mohawke‘s “Thunder Bay” is a chop suey of tastey bits of bass, “ah”s and “oh”s made to scare off any epilectic. If I had to put money on it, I’d say Hudson has Sleigh Bells, Major Lazer, M.I.A., Girl Talk, and tUnE-yArDs on his everyday tracklist. Bets aside, there is no guessing or luck involved with knowing what strange, yet appealing mashed up arrangements he creates. It’s going to be a love or hate verdict for most of you.

On the other hand, “Party Animal,” which also comes off his newly dropped LP, Satin Panthers, is a sure pleaser from the Scottish electro producer (aka Ross Birchard). It’s a bootleg from Gucci Mane and has been given a piano riff and some extra synth swag. He is only 22, but the old-school style would beg to differ. All I can say is, hip-hop has been asking for a guy like Hudson.
