Major royalty in hip hop right now are Jay-Z and Kanye West, and they just decided to cement their kingdom with collaborative LP, Watch The Throne. That’s a confident authority.

First came Jay-Z, then came Kanye on his 2001 Blueprint album, then came the shutter shades that took over raves and music festivals worldwide. Roc-A-Fella Records was their breeding ground and a home that Jay-Z created along with colossal label, Island Def Jam, which boasts artists like Mariah Carey, Duffy, Ne-Yo, Fabolous, NAS, Rihanna, and none other than Justin Bieber.

Amidst all the tracks on this album, “Why I Love You” stood out as the winner. It features Mr. Hudson, who is a label brother, under Mercury Records, a UK standalone and part of the Def Jam music group. He has previously worked with Kanye and Jay among many other artists including Kid Cudi, also touring with Calvin Harris.

The leaky faucet that is the internet got temporarily fixed for this album only. It’s been in tightly-locked studio vault until now.

“We made this album, it took eight months. We should be able to release it the way we like without everyone being all up in arms,” Jay said in an interview with radio host Angie Martinez. “The real reason behind it is was we didn’t want the music to leak. We wanted to present to the people in it’s entirety. When you send it out, once it leaves the plant and that’s the end of it.” (Hot 97)
