Aoi Kotsuhiroi Unveils Exotic Regrets Collection

The French jewelry designer known for haunting jewelry and conceptual pieces unveiled today the first chapter of a new collection, Exotic Regrets.

About the Dawn Ritual “feet objects” and the Exotic Regrets collection, Aoi Kotsuhiroi told TrendLand, “Exotic Regrets is a dance of the female muscles, tensed up as an ultimate stake. In the enclosure of the secret, ritual bodies and codes split the instant. Parallel heels are instruments of nudity as a trap in tension. The rest remains to be done, other rituals in balance.”

The Dawn Ritual feet objects are made of urushi lacquered horns, urushi lacquered cherry tree and leather. (“Urushi-e” means “lacquer picture”.) The shoe objects are black, 7.7” high and one-of-a-kind.

Kotsuhiroi is unquestionably unique and the evocative collections intricately weave dreamy inspirations with natural materials. For example, the Lost Sound Finger Piece (ring) is made with “scratched” urushi lacquered horn, antique roman 24k gold beads (circa 100-400 ad), urushi lacquered silk threads, human hair and pit-fired porcelain skulls. We see nods to mysticism, the Middle Ages and the photography of Nobuyoshi Araki.

We discovered Kotsuhiroi some time ago on the UK site Not Just a Label, which just received the Draper Etail Award for its place in the online fashion industry as a platform for connecting emerging talent with international audiences. We’re proud of the accomplishment and the future of fashion online. Meanwhile, we’ll be anxiously awaiting the rest of the Exotic Regrets collection that is currently in progress and will include individual “sculptures” to be added to Kotsuhiroi’s site as completed.

“I pick the flowers of the soul… therefore sometimes my hands get dirty.” – Aoi Kotsuhiroi
