The Constellations: We’re Here to Save the Day

North American southerners are generous, or so rumors have it. The Constellations–straight from Atlanta, Georgia–are true ‘peaches.’ The band has stayed true to the Georgian way and given us their sophomore album, Southern Gothic, which vocalist, Elijah Jones, has said spotlights their home state from the unique after hours to noon. This year, the eight-piece, family styled group were named one of SPIN Magazine’s “Must Hear Bands at SXSW and PASTE’s “Best of What’s Next.” Its not the typical pop recipe that’s got them noticed, or what makes you dance, it’s the band’s irresistibly darker sound polarized by an upbeat feel and a pinch of hip-hop (be sure to also check out “Felicia” and “Setback”). “We’re Here to Save the Day” is just one of the record’s hits groomed by Cee-lo and Gnarls Barkley producer, Ben H. Allen. Not to mention, guest vocals by Asher Roth: give the college boy some credit, he did add the song’s leading line and title.
