Yiqing Yin Couture Fall 2012

As a young Chinese immigrant in France, Yiqing Yin, like most little girls, found a point of reference in clothing. “Returning to my clothes, was like living once more within my body and my emotions; I was at home.” It has been her aim ever since to imagine and create garments that protect and reinforce; a second skin, a supple armor. Her creations were shown on the last day of Couture week to a packed house of Parisians and international fashion editors who could not help but have their breath taken away by the ethereal beauty of her Fall Winter Couture Collection, her second on the Paris couture schedule. As a designer, Yiqing Yin creates in the next dimension, her structures are never fixed, always mutating and evolving. It was a real treasure to see such conceptual exploration of the potential of pleats here, twisted and punched into organic patterns. Her attention to detail in sculpted forms was impressive, with feathers adoring the shoulders and spine on certain looks. The delicate palette of ice blue and iridescent marines was punctuated by rose colored looks, all which seemed to float down the runway. In a time when the future of haute couture is highly debated, Yin has captivated us, and shows us the way of a true innovator.

Yiqing Yin will be available at modewalk.com in the Fall.
