Yiorgos Eleftheriades S/S 2011

by Guest Blogger Magdalena Kapuscinska

Internationally recognized, Greek fashion designer, Yiorgos Eleftherides is passionate about classical forms and modern elegance, always searching for interesting urban style solutions with architectural wit. Known for his penchant for contrast and experimental combination of fabrics and shapes Eleftheriades’ signature is based on minimalism of day – to – night approach, neo romantic style with fine quality.

The collection for his  SS 2011 season showcased in Barcelona Fashion Week is based on the contrast of matte and metallic textures, exposing abstract details of trapeze and rectangular shapes with soft architectural silhouettes. The two main color palettes also maintain the concept of soft antithesis contradicting warm colors of caramel and tobacco, copper and bronze, lime and olive with icy-chalky white, pearl grey and black shades. The versatile fabrication of silk georgette, muslin and voile juxtaposed with fine leather and cotton play into these same contradictions.

The character of the collection exposes the vision of modern heroines accompanied with elegant men in summer freedom. Structured wedges and tailoring, lace leather, soft lightweight fabrics or oversized shirts in gauzy voile are just few sophisticated specialties of the overall collection.
