Some thoughts: A. Lee Kershaw had the best outfit. Really caught the raison d’etre of the night. Was that a riding crop, even? C. Roitfeld the worst, and here’s why: why choose the very thing — applique on sheer — that can’t hang straight, and so once the drape is gone, looks akin to garbage on sheer because there’s no longer any fit? Everything’s askew, and why would the editor of French Vogue ever believe THAT worked after putting it on? Probably went, oh, well, I’m sure it’ll even out later. Or something. Think of what she could’ve worn — the mind’s an archive of ideas. I’ve been questioning her status for a while lately, but now, w/this — guess we’ll see her soon on Joan Rivers. Also, too much black that night; the few reds stood out and scored high, especially the Missonis, and L. Donaldson. Ladies, wear red at night! It’s drop-dead! Some beautiful dresses: C. Sieber’s white — just-right design; A. Ambrosio’s constant deal with wearing beautifully fit clothes. The complete let-down at something like this? Deeta von Teese: it should have been her night to lead via masqued, an opportunity for everyone to really see her concept, but what does she have? 1/2 a pantsuit, w/the done-and-so-over lace hightops, and, topping it, completely unexpected mask fear. She could’ve scored in skin and white-tight, ala Jessica Rabbit, peek-a-boo jet hair over one eye, but . . . She’s done. My only complaint of coverage: no mention of who was wearing whom. Really unforgivable. Better next time. But it was fun, and keep it coming from Paris. Need the vicarious. XoXo
