Since more than 20 years, Tony Cragg experiments new ways to scramble our vision through bewitching, voluptuous and impressive sculptural works.
He’s able to freeze the time or to transform material’s essence. He stops the movement by a palpable reality and not by using a camera. He turns bronze into plastic, wood into stone. His approach is based on a game between antique art and ultra modernity. Indeed, his artworks can remind a defective virtual content blending with an African sculpture of XIX century.
A current exhibition features his works at Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt, Germany.
