TrendOffice: Parliament [Portland]

Stacked firewood walls that lend the space a unique lodge-like appeal.

Reclaimed wood from churches, pizza ovens and a 1904 barn are just some of the materials they’ve fashioned together in their own unique style to create tables, desks and work spaces.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

  • Tender Hook

Great space and design, good combo of retro, reclaimed/recycled and textures. What seriously lets it down is the bear skin on the floor – odious, offensive, naf and old fashioned. Shame… Get with the program Parliament (Portland), nowadays its really not cool or hip to have animal skins, furs etc in interiors.

Oh, I dunno — I kinda like the bear skin rug. Not that I’m some hick with a dozen of them up on my wall, but with the fun, shriner’s-looking hat on it, it kind of lends itself as the unofficial mascot of the office.

I found it amusing, as it lent itself to the campy “lodge” feeling of the place. Would it be better if it were stuffed, like the Smokey the Bear’s at the Bigfoot Lodges in SF or LA (http://www.bigfootlodge.com/)?

In TrendOffice today, we will review Portland based creative agency Parliament. Working in digital design, print and marketing for the likes of Microsoft, Adobe or Fox amongst others, they do have some talent in interior design as well! Wood & concrete, love the match. Their vintage mix of clean modern furniture and details all wrapped up into one, makes the Parliament “World Headquarters” a pretty unique office!
