Artists Peter Cole and Helen Cole opted to design their Kyneton, Australia home from scratch, with the sole help of a draftsman and local builder. Design Files got a special look into the custom residence and artists studio, which features a minimal aesthetic with contemporary details, inspired by residences in Tokyo. The elevated platform on which the house stands even mimics that of a Japanese temple. The light filled space acts as a gallery and house, the perfect backdrop for Peter’s (one of Australia’s most well known contemporary sculptors) work. The couple’s collection of modern and antique furniture works quite nicely with their collection of art, made by the two and others such as Marc Newson.
