Front, side and rear elevations of the house slide open to erase all boundaries between indoors and out and connect the spaces to gardens and terraces on three levels.
This residence is embedded into a sharply sloping hillside property, a challenging site that led to the creation of a house that is both integrated into nature and open to the city beyond.
Deep overhangs serve as solar protection for the double glazing windows and become progressively larger as the main elevation of the building follows the hillside contours from Eastern to Southwestern exposure
The structure and detailing of the house is more complex than it appears. Extensive grading and terraced retaining walls were developed to extend the first floor living level into the hillside and to create a garden terraces on each level.

In TrendHome today is a beautiful modern residence in the Hollywood Hills. Designed by LA based firm XTEN Architecture and named ‘Open House’ based on the ventilation system where every elevation of the house is open to capture the prevailing breezes to passively ventilate and cool the house. This residence is embedded into a sharply sloping hillside property, a challenging site that led to the creation of a house that is both integrated into nature and open to the city beyond.

beautiful work! posters for posterity!2
I like it. And it grabbed your attention esp. if you posted a comment below. whether you love it or hate I don't see anything where it promotes violence or degrading women.. what i see is government taking away the rights of a citizen n the rights away from people. Failure to follow instructions will land us in prison like the model. Now if steven photographed the same concept with average shmucks would we pay much attention to it? i dont think so. it'd be just another political journalistic photograph.3
i agree4
