Torafu in Japan

As a kid, I always had a hard time describing where I lived to friends. Our cul-de-sac didn’t have much of a recognizable landmark. The following structure designed by the Japanese duo Torafu has no problem with the recognition factor. This unique one story structure located in Yokohama, Japan resembles that of a chip off the Fortress of Solitude.

The concrete structure’s interior bears the look of a gallery with flat white walls throughout the house. The roof lighting system pulls the airy tall ceilings and flat white walls together and fills the cabin with calming natural light.
